Fantastic Serum

* Review collected as part of a sampling promotion* I received this product during the Natural Beauty Month Event and really like it. I found the dropper works really well, as it allows you to get just the right amount of product on your skin. I also really like the scent of this product, and found a little bit of it goes a long way. I did find it to be a bit thicker than I am used to for a serum, however it did feel hydrating on my skin. Having said this, I was a bit nervous it was going to rub off onto my pillow at night. Nevertheless, I would recommend this product, as I found it to be very effective at hydrating my skin and it felt great on.

Beautiful Product

* Review collected as part of a sampling promotion* I love the Antipodes range. All their products are beautiful and I love the smell of them. This is no different. It has that really nice beautiful herbal smell. It is a beautiful lightweight retinol serum. Like all retinols I could feel that it was a retinol serum right away. It’s not too thick and glides on the skin. It takes a few minutes to absorb. It absorbs really nicely though. Doesn’t leave my face shiny or oily looking like most other retinol serums do. I have very oily skin so that’s a concern for me. This serum blends really well with other skin care products and serum. I’ve also worn it under make up and goes on really nicely. I think too soon to see retinol style effects as it’s only been 2 weeks but my lines seem less noticeable.

Lightweight, calming, effective bio-retinol serum

4

* Review collected as part of a sampling promotion* The Antipodes Eve Bio-Retinol Line Reduction Serum comes packaged in a 30ml glass bottle with a dropper applicator. It was fascinating hearing the Antipodes representative talk about this product at the BH Natural Beauty Month Event – the brand wanted to create a powerful bio-retinol that was able to deliver the same anti-ageing results as synthetic retinols, without the side effects that come with that (redness, flakiness, and increased skin sensitivity). This product is a bio-retinol and 100% of ingredients are from natural origin, and 90% of ingredients are from organic cultivation. This means that unlike synthetic retinols, this natural retinol product can be used any time of day or night and is comfortable for us from the first day of use. The other thing the Antipodes brand representative showed us at the event was that this product was tested against four leading retinol serums (from memory, the brands were Olay, La Roche-Posay, The Ordinary and Loreal). The Antipodes Eve Bio-Retinol Line Reduction Serum had the highest collagen synthesis of those that were tested, clearly demonstrating that this product is able to deliver when compared to synthetic retinols. This product contains organic Cacay Oil, which is a natural source of vitamin A that helps boosts collagen and elastin production; Bakuchiol which is another natural retinol alternative that helps to visibly reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles (working on skin clarity); and Prickly Pear Oil and Kakadu Plum Oil which helps to plump and protect skin as they’re ingredients that are rich in amino acids and protective antioxidants. To use, I apply 3-4 drops on my cleansed face and neck. The serum is lightweight and massages nicely into the skin. It has a subtle rose/floral scent which is calming and enjoyable. After trialling this serum for two weeks, I’ve noticed how soft and supple my skin feels – I’ve definitely noticed a difference in the texture of my skin. My skin feels smoother and more plump. I can’t comment on a reduction of fine lines or wrinkles just yet, but I’m pleasantly surprised with how my skin is looking after only two weeks of using this serum. I’ve had no skin irritation, redness or dryness which I have experienced with other retinols. I’m excited to continue using this serum to see the longer term effects it has on my skin.

Rich facial oil with bakuchiol not retinol

* Review collected as part of a sampling promotion* This serum has a misleading name with 'bio-retinol' in it. There's no retinol or any form of retinoid in it, but it does contain bakuchiol, an ingredient found in the babchi plant. Bakuchiol is in no way related to retinol. The formula is oil-based, with a mix of sunflower, jojoba, cacay, macadamia, safflower, prickly pear, kakadu oils etc. It is packaged in a dropper bottle with a good seal. In terms of the texture, it is quite a heavy oil. I have used facial oils like rosehip and squalane but I seem to find this particular serum too heavy for my combination skin type. Sunflower and safflower oils are high up in the ingredients list and they are better suited for dry skin as they are high in oleic acid and more occlusive. I have to use it sparingly even when it's part of my evening routine. My husband who has dry skin likes the texture better. The rose fragrance is quite strong, but pleasant. Neither of us experienced any irritation or sensitivity with this serum. We didn't see any improvement in the appearance of our skin in the two week trial period, but it was nourishing and kept any dryness at bay. By the second week though, I started developing closed comedones. For me personally, the texture is too oily but I think it will suit dry skin nicely. Back to bakuchiol. It is touted as having similar, or better anti-aging effects than retinol with none of the associated irritation or side effects. The studies to date have been in vitro studies, i.e. not on human skin. Retinol needs to be converted to retinoic acid before it has any benefits, and this process does not happen in in-vitro situations. Bakuchiol, while very promising as a new-ish anti-aging ingredient, doesn't have the same extensive research behind it as the gold standard retinol. It also does not interact with skin cells in the same way., The Antipodes spokesperson advised not to use retinol together with this serum, but I disagree with that based on the research available that shows that Bakuchiol is a great antioxidant and complements the stability of retinol. Unless you are pregnant, breastfeeding or cannot tolerate retinol, you can actually use them both together. 'Natural' companies are trying to convince customers to ditch retinol for bakuchiol, but there is no scientific reason to do so - you can use both. Other skincare companies have actually combined bakuchiol and retinol/retinal in their serum formulas.

Natural anti ageing serum

* Review collected as part of a sampling promotion* At the most recent Beauty Heaven event we were lucky enough to receive the Antipodes eve bio-retinol line reduction serum. I like that 100% of the ingredients are natural and its vegan. The serum contains ingredients like organic cacay oil, something I had never heard of before, which contains vitamin A. It also contains bakuchiol which I had heard of before as being a natural alternative to retinol. The serum is supposed to help with stimulating collagen and reducing wrinkles and fine lines which are things that Im looking for a skincare product. Other ingredients include prickly pear oil and Kakadu plum oil which has high amounts of vitamin C. I apply several drops of the serum into my hands from the dropper and apply it all over my face and neck. While I have only been using it for almost two weeks, what I have noticed is that my skin feels hydrated and softer. It doesnt feel heavy on the face and you can layer it with a moisturiser too.

Baby Like Skin

* Review collected as part of a sampling promotion* This product was received at the Beauty Heaven Natural Beauty Month Event. Antipodes is a brand that prides itself on green beauty and being power packed with plant actives to aid you in achieving radiant, glowing skin that you are comfortable in all day long. Made in New Zealand and harnessing premium ingredients like organic Cacay oil, known for its high Vitamin A content, Bakuchiol which is natures answer to retinol, Kakadu plum for its antioxidant and vitamin content and prickly pear for its high fatty acid content, this oil based serum is sure to deliver great skin within a short time frame. Consistent use allows for enhanced collagen production resulting in recharged skin, visibly missing those fine lines and wrinkles. Even though this is oil based, it absorbs very well into the skin and does not leave any tacky residue. A few drops to be applied at nights, allows your skin to repair whilst you are resting. I do wonder if the Eve in the name is to suggest one would have their skin go back to the start f time, like Adam and Eve….

Antipodes Eve Bio-Retinol Line Reduction Serum

* Review collected as part of a sampling promotion* This came in hygienic dropper bottle like most serums. I received this as part of the bh natural beauty month trial. I was excited to try this as I really like antipodes products. I like that this serum gave my upper lids and lower eyes a nice dewy glow and made them feel brighter and plumper as my dark circles are quite pronounced. I like that formula was lightweight and quick absorbing. I use the product after cleansing, and before moisturisers and it has made my eyes feel brighter after a few days use so I would definitely recommend this if you are looking for a new eye serum.

Fabulous!

* Review collected as part of a sampling promotion* This was my first time trying Antipodes. I had only heard of the brand but wasnt familiar with the products that they had. I wasnt sure what to expect but after using the bio retinol line reduction serum I have been impressed. Antipodes is a brand that is created and made in New Zealand. All of the ingredient in this particular serum are natural and after using this product you will never doubt natural products! A lot of times people think that natural products dont work as well as non-natural products but thats false. This serum has already made improvements to my skin. My fine lines and wrinkles arent as prominent as before. My skin tone looks more even and the hydrating ingredients means my skin is looking healthy and plump! Because it uses a natural form of retinol it wont irritate your skin. My impression of Antipodes is that they are an innovative and modern brand and after using this product I would be open to trying more of their products.

Skin looks visibly different

* Review collected as part of a sampling promotion* I received this product from the Natural Beauty Month Marketplace Event to trial. This product was very intriguing as it is a new serum on the market and I was excited to try it to see how it would compare to the other serums on the market. I love the gentle scent of the serum, it doesn’t feel oily. I’ve been applying the serum as directed as part of my night time routine and I can feel a visible difference in my skin, I can see the fine lines on my forehead slowly become less visible and my skin feels soft, smooth and hydrated!

Amazing Natural Serum

5

* Review collected as part of a sampling promotion* I received the at the Natural Beauty Market Place. Thank you BH for giving me the opportunity to try this. I am a big fan of Nivea Lip Balms. This is great if you are looking to have moisturised lips. Love the packaging all the green on the box makes me feel I am doing the right thing by the environment. The dark brown bottle has a dropper to dispense the serum. One tip I have for using the serum is - use a very small quantity as less is more. This will last for a long time. I have only used it for a few days but love the way my skin feels. I like the fact that this is all natural and a great alternative to the retinol. It is quite a concentrated serum.
