We know ingredients matter. Our customers read labels, research INCI lists, and want to feel confident in what they’re using every day. That’s why we make transparency simple – below you’ll find the full ingredient (INCI) lists for our entire haircare range.

Antipodes haircare is made without silicones, SLS & SLES, parabens, or artificial fragrance.

Our formulas are natural origin. All ingredients are selected for performance, scalp comfort, and product safety. Botanical extracts, plant oils and essential oils are listed by their INCI names alongside other functional ingredients required to create safe, effective haircare. What is an INCI list?

INCI stands for International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients. It’s the standard way ingredients are listed globally, using consistent names (often Latin for botanicals). Ingredients are generally listed in descending order of concentration until the point where ingredients at 1% or less can be listed in any order.

Antipodes haircare formulas are natural origin, and where a synthetic ingredient is used, it is NATRUE-approved for use in natural formulas. Every ingredient is selected for performance, scalp comfort, long-term hair health, and product safety and stability. All fragrances are COSMOS-certified natural.

Common ingredient roles you’ll see across our haircare formulas

Cleansers (shampoo)

These help cleanse the hair and scalp by removing dirt, oil and build-up.

We use plant-derived cleansing agents selected for effectiveness and scalp comfort, rather than harsh detergents.

Examples: Sodium Coco-Sulfate, Lauryl Glucoside, Decyl Glucoside

Conditioning & detangling agents

These help smooth the hair surface, improve combability and reduce breakage — without relying on silicones.

Examples: Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride

Humectants (hydration-supporting ingredients)

Humectants help attract and retain moisture, supporting hydration for both scalp and hair.

Examples: Glycerin, Betaine, Sodium Hyaluronate

Plant oils, butters & emollients

These ingredients help soften hair, improve manageability and support shine.

Examples: Avocado oil, Argan oil, Marula oil, Shea butter, Cupuaçu butter

Botanical extracts

Selected plant extracts support scalp comfort, hair feel and overall formula performance.

Preservation & formula support

These ingredients help keep formulas safe, stable and performing well over time.

Fragrance

All fragrances used in our haircare are COSMOS-certified natural. Naturally occurring aromatic compounds (such as Limonene or Linalool) may appear on ingredient lists as part of essential oils.

Ingredients you might not recognise (but are doing a lot of work)

Some of the most effective ingredients in modern natural haircare have scientific names. Here’s what a few of our key ones do in plain English.

Sodium Coco-Sulfate

A naturally derived cleansing agent made from coconut fatty acids. It effectively cleanses hair and scalp while being gentler than conventional sulfates like SLS or SLES.

Lauryl Glucoside & Decyl Glucoside

Very mild, plant-derived cleansers made from natural sugars and fatty alcohols. Chosen for their low irritation profile and suitability for frequent use.

Behentrimonium Methosulfate

A conditioning ingredient derived from rapeseed oil. Despite the name, it is not a cleansing sulfate. It helps smooth, detangle and soften hair and is considered a gold standard in high-performance conditioners.

Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride

A naturally derived conditioning polymer made from guar beans. It helps improve slip, smoothness and manageability without weighing hair down.

Sodium Hyaluronate

A plant-derived form of hyaluronic acid that helps attract and retain moisture. It supports hydration for both scalp and hair, helping hair feel softer and more flexible.

Hydrolyzed Jojoba Esters

A plant-derived ingredient made from jojoba oil. It helps smooth and soften hair and acts as a lightweight, silicone-free alternative for improving shine and feel.

Sodium Phytate

A naturally derived chelating agent that helps protect formulas by binding metal ions. It supports formula stability and performance, especially in hard water.

Xylitol, Xylitylglucoside & Anhydroxylitol (Xylishine™)

A plant-derived sugar complex that helps support hydration and improve the smoothness and appearance of hair, without heaviness or build-up.
